MALEME

Famous as the site for the invasion point of the Battle of Crete during World War II, Maleme is a small town approximately 25 Km west of Chania on the north coast of Crete. It is popular with visitors who enjoy the laid back atmosphere of the small coastal strip and want to stay away from the bright lights and bustle of busier resorts such as Platanias and Agia Marina.

There are a number of places to eat and drink on the seafront, but take a few steps inland towards the road that runs through Maleme and you will find a range of eateries for every taste. From home cooked traditional Cretan style food, international and English based cuisine or a simple fast gyros or souvlaki as a lunchtime snack, there are plenty of places to choose from.
